About Atlantic City
Overview
Atlantic City Is a shore resort in a New Jersey. It is located about midway on the new jersey coast. It's origins date back to the late 1800's as a resort city with numerous large hotels. tourists visited for recreation, to escape the summer heat of the city's and two enjoyed the sandy beaches and cool ocean water. The city was in a period of decline through the 1960's and 1970's. The introduction of gambling in the nineteen seventies brought about a huge construction boom which unfortunately resulted in a destruction of many of the classic hotels and buildings in the city.
Today, the Casinos and associated gambling industry are the largest attraction in Atlantic City. People also enjoy the beaches, fishing and boardwalk.
Getting there
Atlantic city's location makes it easily accessible from major cities such as Philadelphia and New York. The Garden State Parkway runs a long the eastern edge of New Jersey and provides easy access from North Jersey and New York. The Atlantic City Expressway provides easy access from Philadelphia, Camden and Trenton.
In addition, there's a rail line running from Camden to Atlantic City.
The Atlantic City International Airport provides air transportation to and from Atlantic city.
